The 2014 Jaguar F-Type convertible represents the first all-new Jaguar sports car after the legendary E-Type that was debuted in the year 1961 and ceased production in 1974. Back in the 60’s the Jaguar E-type used to be a stunning sports car which combined beautiful styling with impressive power and handling. The Jaguar F-type is however a car for the future. Jaguar design chief Ian Callum and his team have made the new F-TYPE sports car resolutely modern. Each detail in the car shines brightly to show each work of art put together to make the vehicle a legendary one.

The Jaguar E and F types are worlds apart in performance and technology; however the comparisons can’t be avoided. These similarities are subtle yet can’t be ignored. For example the rounded side body panels and the circular tail-lamps seem to be somewhat similar to the E type. Also the E-Type was both a convertible roadster and a coupe; however the F-Type is just a convertible.

The 2014 Jaguar F-Type has a body design which is extremely sporty and aerodynamic. This feature does not only improve the stability of the vehicle but also makes it more attractive in the segment. To begin with the front side, this car has an aerodynamic front fascia with head lamps incorporated onto its glossy body. These headlamps are equipped with LED based daytime running lamps and side turn indicators that enhances the looks of the car. The long bonnet which the car has is very sleek with expressive lines on it which is again equipped with air ducts for better air intake.

The side profile of the vehicle is again marked with lots of sporty elements. This includes body coloured external rear view mirrors with indicator blinkers on it, stylish sets of light weight alloy wheels with classy looks, chrome coated air ducts and the tubeless radial tyres giving the car superior grip on the road. The rear end of the Jaguar F-Type V6 S is marked by center mounted twin exhaust pipes while the higher variant F type V8 S is offered with quad exhaust pipes. Other than this the rear end gets catchy extremely slim tail lamps which produces bright light.

The Jaguar F Type V6 S measures 4470 mm in length, 1923mm in width, a height of 1308 mm and a wheel base of 2622mm. On the other hand the Jaguar F type V8 S measures the same length and width wise however it a bit higher than the V6 S model with a total height of 1319mm and same wheel base measurement.

The Jaguar F-Type is a pure two seater sports car with a driver-focused, asymmetric dual cockpit which is referred to as “1+1” cabin, which means emphasis is on the driver. There is a clear division between the driver and the passenger because of the prominent grab handle on the centre console along with different trim materials on either sides of the cockpit. The dashboard gets instruments which are simple, clear and analog type which is basically essential in a sports car. Other information is provided by a 5-inch TFT screen mounted centrally between the speedometer and tachometer.

Coming to the steering wheel the F-Type model gets a small diameter, three-spoke leather covered wheel with multi-function controls for audio system & cruise control. Behind the wheel are the paddle shifters for the transmission. The car has sporty styled seats which is a standard for all variants. Other than that the F-type & F-type S gets 6-way manual and electric adjustments & Sudecloth leather trim center sections for high grip during cornering.

Combined with high power and low weight the new Jaguar F-Type gets effortless speed, thanks to the combination of powerful engines with an all aluminium body which gives the vehicle high power to weight ratio. The F-type variants gets three supercharged engines: two variants are of the 3.0 liter V6 and the third variant being 5.0 liter V8. The V6 type produces a power of 340 hp whereas the V8 produces about 495 hp. The secret ingredient to those impressive powers are the Roots-type vortex superchargers.

The Jaguar F-type V6 S producing a power of 375bhp does a 0-60mph in an impressive 4.9 seconds. On the other hand the V8 S does a 0-100 mph mark in 8.8 seconds at the same time reaching a top speed of 186mph.

The vehicle gets a light, but strong aluminium body structure with a wide and high torsional rigidity that creates an ideal platform for a sports car. The driver inside the vehicle can drive with full confidence as the optional radar sensors in the sides of F-Type alerts him of the vehicle entering the blindspot. Also for reversing out in parking spaces, the optional sensors in the rear bumper is designed to warn the driver of the approaching vehicle. Other standard safety features includes Emergency Brake Assist, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Anti-lock brakes (ABS), Traction control (through engine and brake intervention), Dynamic Stability Control and Cornering Brake Control. There are some cars that you fall in love at first sight, and the Jaguar F-Type is one of them. Priced at Rs 1.61 crore for the V8 S and Rs 1.37 crore for the V6 S this roadster is definitely not for those who are misers. The Jaguar F-Type roadster is for old-fashioned thrillers, who like power over grip and a noise to die for. Some of the roadster competing against the F–Type are the Porsche Boxter, BMW Z4, Mercedes Benz SLK, Mazda MX-5 and the Nissan 370Z. [/tab_item]
