The new Mercedes-AMG GT has got a perfect combination of unique design idiom and luxurious interior. The astounding power of this new vehicle is matched with fascinating dynamics, supreme agility and everyday practicality. Thomas Weber, the head of Mercedes-Benz research and development said “We are venturing out into a challenging sports car segment with its top-class competitive field. This is an incentive and motivation for us at the same time to prove to sports car enthusiasts around the world the kind of performance that AMG is capable of.”

The key elements of the new Mercedes-AMG GT are Sportiness and expressiveness. Its trend-setting design is created from the exciting combination of characteristic shapes and powerful lines. On the front the grille, the vents, and the overall shape are reminiscent of the SLS’s; the lower air intakes are shaped much like those fitted to the E63 AMG; and the LED light signature and character lines on the door panels share a familiar resemblance to what’s been pioneered by the S-class. The vehicle gets a long bonnet with its pronounced powerdome.

On the side the vehicle gets a well crafted profile with wider raised wheel arches and the arching design curves give the car a muscular appearance. The GT deliberately avoids lines in the shoulder region. The only line is one lower down, picked up again in the rear bumper, which stretches the body and makes it appear lighter. Also on the sides one can find an oval single-slat radiator grille giving the car a more of a racing look. The rear end is fitted with thin horizontal tail lamps similar to the ones found on the recently-introduced S-Class Coupe.

Overall it is a sleek design with little to interrupt the design lines, created by those who have got passion for racing. It definitely has an impressive look that suggests a spectacular design of the vehicle at the first glance itself.

Inside the new Mercedes-AMG GT, there’s plenty more to get you an adrenalin rush. From the aviation-inspired cockpit and high-tech centre console, to the magnificent materials throughout, everything’s gonna take your breath away. The sensual and modern luxurious interior of the new Mercedes-AMG GT could not be more perfect.

As one gets inside the car, the eye catches the attention of the large instrument cluster on the dashboard, air-conditioning vents and the gently rising center console with control elements in V8 style. Mercedes says the slanted center stack was designed to resemble a NACA duct, and has also cleverly arranged the controls for the car’s AMG Drive Unit to resemble the cylinder layout of a V8 engine. The center console’s design and materials make the driver feel like a racing driver.

The AMG Drive Unit offers the driver control over both the ride and the sound of the car. The low sitting position integrates the driver perfectly and enables them to become one with the vehicle. The center console’s design and materials make the driver feel like a racing driver. This sensation is emphasized by the high-quality AMG sports seats, AMG performance steering wheel and AMG DRIVE UNIT.

Other additional features in the AMG GT S will include red highlights on the speedometer, an AMG Affalterbach Crest on the center armrest and a blacked out front splitter. The GT S will have a special race mode that allows for faster, more aggressive shift speeds and an electronically controlled, rear-axle locking differential to help improve the car’s performance at the limit.

The new Mercedes AMG GT 2015 model gets a brand new 4.0 litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine called the M178 internally. This new engine features a dry-sump lubrication system lowering the centre of gravity by eliminating the conventional oil pan, lightweight forged pistons and a patented Nanoslide coating on the cylinder walls to reduce the frictional losses. Mounted in the front mid position, this eight-cylinder engine spins the rear wheels via a 7 speed dual-clutch transmission mounted over the rear axle, giving the vehicle a 47/53 weight distribution.

This new sports car will be launched in two versions: the standard GT model and the more powerful GT S. Even though both the versions are powered by the same engine, the GT model gets 456bhp of power whereas the GT S gets a little more of 503bhp. Talking about the torque, the GT gets 443 lb-ft of torque making the vehicle hit 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, while the GT S pumps out 479 lb-ft of torque achieving the 60 mph target in 3.7 seconds. Top speed for the GT model is 188 mph, and that for the GT S is 192 mph.

And if you really want to boast around about your car, the GT S model comes with a selectable exhaust as a standard allowing you to hear the V8’s growl depending on which mode the Dynamic Select system is in.
