The time has come to get acquainted with the new Audi S6 of the year 2013. While this year’s Audi S6 does have plenty of common parts with other models in the series, like Audi S7 for example, both of them have their own unique character and were built for very different groups of consumers. The new S6 shares the chassis of Audi A6, but S6 got a new fuel-efficient engine and a full range of modern technological advances from Audi.

The new and exclusive Audi S6 comes with a whole set of options including exterior mirrors attached to the famous aluminum body. Audi S6 is available in two versions: saloon and estate. The traditional shape of the body and saloon’s trunk were borrowed from the A6 series. Both saloon and estate models have a conservative design with a unique platinum grille, horizontal elements of the front air intakes, rear spoiler and four exhaust pipes.

The most notable technical difference in the new Audi S6 compared to previous models is its new twin turbo V8, which replaced a previous 435 HP, 5.2 liter V10, distinctive to the previous series of cars. The old V10 used to sound amazing – its engine-breaking sound would make you carry DVLA contact just in case it explodes; it made chills ran down your back. As for the new V8, it’s completely the opposite: it sounds slightly dull. However, the new power unit is 25 percent more efficient and much faster than the previous V10, which is always good.

Audi S6 saloon comes with the same engine as this years’ new Audi S7: this 4 litre TFSI produces 420 HP in the range from 5500 to 6400 revolutions per minute and 500 Nm of torque in the range from 1400 to 5200 revolutions per minute. Eight cylinders accelerate this five-door coupe from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds which is 0.1 seconds faster than the S7. Audi S6 has a top speed of 155 mph. The technology called “cylinders on demand” contributes to the reduction of fuel consumption by switching off the cylinders of the engine whenever possible. The only way you are going to be able to tell that this system is working is by indication light on the dashboard – if it wasn’t for this light, there is no way to could tell that some of the cylinders have been switched off.

The power of the new Audi S6 engine is transmitted onto the road via the seven-speed automatic S-tronic transmission and a standard four-wheel Quattro drive with self-locking center differential and torque vectoring. Thanks to all this technical sophistication, the car is taking corners like a candy from a baby. The optional sport differential sends the power to the rear wheels in different ratio.

Even though Audi S6 holds onto the road with such an astounding ease, it still might not be the perfect saloon for everybody. There will be people this year that will look for a more responsive car that is fun to drive, and there will be others who would just fall in love with S6 at the very first sight. At the end of the day, this year’s exclusive Audi S6 is no doubt one of the representatives of the modern high-tech cars of today. It is simple to operate, fast and safe.

The Volvo V40 is a 5 door small family car which was first launched at the Geneva Motor Show, 2012. Being a replacement for the Volvo S40 and the Estate V50, the V40 R-Design meets the needs of the most demanding drivers. It’s a combination of exclusive exterior and interior styling, optional sports chassis and responsive engines that creates a sporty yet refined 5-door performance hatchback. This car is expected to roll out in India by June this year and will be competing against the SUV’s from some of the luxury automobile companies like the BMW, Audi and Mercedes.

Exterior

What gets anyone’s attention on the Volvo V40 first are the aggressive, beak-like bonnet with its cuts and creases, and the extreme rake of the windscreen. There’s a strong bonnet ‘V’, the headlights are angled back appropriately, the black roof looks stunning, and the rising waistline and the tight-fitting top meet each other at the rear of the car quite elegantly. Off-roader details include an unpainted plastic cladding that runs around the car, faux scuff plates, both front and rear, and sleek rails that seem to float over the roof. The Cross Country also gets 40mm more ground clearance and larger tyres than the regular V40 hatch. It’s not exactly your regular off-roader, but you’ll get plenty of attention, for sure.

Interior

Though the exterior of the V40 are eye catching, the interiors are not that flashy. As soon as you enter inside you will be welcomed by a plain, IKEA-like surfaces with minimalistic details which are all tastefully trimmed in black and dull aluminium. Some large bits, like the floating centre console and the sculpted doorpads give the cabin a bit of a lift. Still, that plush feel you get from something like an Audi cabin is missing. However what’s good inside the vehicle is the shiny white central console and the transparent LED illuminated gear selector. They either look extremely cool or a touch garish, depending on your perspective. Other unique bits include a frameless rear-view mirror and a massive full-length glass roof.

Nearly all Volvos have brilliant seats, and the V40 is no exception. It takes mere seconds to get comfortable and there is fantastic support for your back and thighs. This is especially noticeable if you’ve just climbed out of another car. Head, elbow and shoulder room at the front of the V40 is plentiful too. This is also a very practical cabin with plenty of space for water bottles and other odds and ends. Legroom at the rear is sufficient for most frames and since the rear bench seats are placed higher up, they gives passengers at the rear a better view of the road ahead. Headroom for very tall passengers could be an issue though due to the tight-fitting roof.

Engine

The Volvo V40 will be coming with a variety of engine options. There will be four petrol variants namely T2, T3, T4 and T5 and three diesel variants namely D2, D3 and D4. The petrol variant with 2.5 litre, 5 cylinder T5 engine will be producing a maximum power of 254 bhp and a torque of 400 Nm. The diesel variant with 1.6 litre, D4 engine will be producing a maximum power of 180 bhp and a torque of 270 Nm. All the engine versions will feature the Start/Stop function along with braking energy regeneration. The Regenerative Braking system basically helps in restoring the energy that is lost in the entire braking process. The partially recovered energy is then stored in battery, resulting to greener cars. On an average with the manual transmission, the vehicle can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 8.6 seconds, whereas using automatic transmission the vehicle accelerates from 0-100 km/hr in just 8.3 seconds.

Safety

The Volvo cars are known to be the safest cars in the world, and same is the case with the Volvo V40. This car has received 5 star ratings in crash test and is the highest scoring car in its segment. Some of the safety features includes reinforced passenger compartment which though is light weight has a high strength. Other safety features includes energy absorbing frontal structure, side impact protection system, dual stage airbags for front passenger and driver along with side airbags and inflatable curtain, and safety seat belts with anti-submarining protection which restricts the occupants from sliding out of their safety seat belts in case of a collision.

car prices in India – AutoPortal.com is targeted to India and contains all necessary information on Hyundai models available in India, tech specs, prices, dealers in India, articles, reviews, test drives. A perfect resource to choose a car, compare various models etc.

Conclusion

Volvo V40 clearly isn’t a car for everyone, especially when it will cost around Rs 25,00,000. The car doesn’t sit high enough off the ground to have genuine SUV appeal, and with the two-wheeldrive version you won’t find it useful as an off-roader as well. So basically, the Volvo V40 Cross Country is a luxury car but not one in the traditional sense. This is one you buy with your heart.

The key to successfully selling a classic car like a Mercedes convertible lies in making it look like the sort of vehicle you’d like to buy yourself. So first off it has to be thoroughly cleaned because one that’s gleaming and sprightly will catch the eye better than one that’s tarnished and faded. You can do the cleaning yourself or take it to a dealer. The exterior should be washed and degreased and the interior cleaned with products designed for the job, and don’t be tempted to use perfumes or paints which merely disguise its deficiencies. If the car has not been actually restored but only freshened up, don’t put new upholstery or carpets in because these will seem out of place and inauthentic.

// ]]>

Paperwork

Gather together all the paperwork like ID documents, instruction booklets and manuals, along with historical contacts such as mechanics and prior owners. Classic car buyers will be especially interested to delve into the vehicle’s complete history, and they’ll feel less risk the more they know about it.

Value

Next, determine the market value rather than simply pitching the asking price at the value you’d prefer. Bear in mind that the parts you bought for it do not necessarily increase the value by that amount.

It’s useful to get hold of a few copies of the Old Car Buyer’s Guide and similar specialist publications which rate a classic car’s value according to six categories ranging from rubbish to pristine. Take a look at a few auction house websites, as they publish the results of their sales online, and you can see what your type of car is going for. Armed with this information you can set a realistic starting price for potential buyers and have a secret bargaining tool as well.

List online

Most classic cars are sold through trade publications, at auctions and through internet sites that specialise in these types of sales. Websites are the least expensive and a good place to start if you want to reach a global audience. Many people prefer to avoid the often long waiting and disappointments of placing advertisements by handing their vehicle over to an auction company to do the whole thing for them.

You can also get in touch with local clubs, which are good for getting the word out as well, and cruise nights in many towns attract spectators interested in older and classic models. Try a combination of these methods of offloading your classic car for quicker results.

The Volkswagen Golf 7 is an important car from the German auto giant as a result of the fact that this car will have a very long shelf life, apparently being replaced only in 2019. This long model life is also a reason for its neat but conservative styling. From the surface it would appear that Volkswagen has simply refined what it already had and is offering more of the same. But the fact is that as you start digging deeper, one will find that the car is quite a radical departure from its predecessors and surprisingly high tech.

Exterior

Volkswagen Golf’s consistency in design has seen even fourth-generation cars maintain impressive resale values. When it comes to the looks the car looks squatter than its predecessor as a result of being 56 mm longer, 28 mm lower and 13 mm wider. Prior to the launch of this new Volkswagen Golf 7 much talk was done about the new Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) architecture used in it. The main purpose of this architecture was to make parts commonality in the wider VW group, that will also support a wide range of future models. However the MQB has also resulted in making the new Golf’s front axle being moved forward by 43 mm which, combined with a 59 mm longer wheelbase, contributes to the Golf 7’s more dynamic looks. This has made the car visually proportional to other premium cars like the Audi A3 and the BMW 1 series.

Unlike the previous generation VW Golf the side feature line in the new one doesn’t run through the rear wing into the rear lamp cluster. This gives the new VW Golf 7 a signature C-pillar that runs down in one continuous surface into the wheel arch that gives the car a real visual strength and class.

Interior

The new Volkswagen Golf 7 brings in it unseen levels of cabin refinement. As one gets inside the car he/she won’t find any line out of place. Nothing inside will look obtrusively bright or showy. Having used the South African born Oona Scheeper’s keen eye for details, the materials inside are also really superb. With a raft of technologies that was previously used only in the luxury cars, the new Golf continues its task of demonstrating big car technology. The standard infotainment display is a black and white five inch screen, but VW offers a range of more high-tech and glamorous options which includes a 5.8 inch composition media player that features a colour touch screen, adaptive cruise control, built in WiFi, city emergency braking, fatigue detection, lane assist and park assist.

Engine

The car gets new engines which are developed to improve the efficiency. As of now the proposed engines are the EA211 and the other being the same but with Automatic Cylinder Deactivation (ACT) system which shuts down cylinders two & three when not required. The first engine gives a maximum power of 103 kW and a max torque of 250 Nm which when coupled with the existing DSG transmission system consumes fuel at the rate of 5.0 litres for every 100 Km. The second engine gives the same performance but gives a bit higher mileage using only 4.7 liters for every 100 Km. Volkswagen claims that the car can hit from 0-100 km/hr in just 8.4 seconds.

Conclusion

The new Volkswagen Golf 7 is expected to hit the markets worldwide only in the year 2014. With the pricing expected to be same as the outgoing models, the new Golf will simply continue the success story for this marque. This model will be hard to beat with the complete package that it provides which includes a superb refinement, a spacious high quality cabin, loads of tech features and much improved efficiency.

The german premium automobile manufacturer Mercedes Benz is planning to introduce ‘Smart’, the compact car brand into the Indian Market after having recently conducted a feasibility study for the same. It is rumoured that the Mercedes Smart will make its presence in India by early 2014 and may also depend on its global partners like Renault-Nissan for support. The company is also not ruling out the possibility of sourcing components and engines in future from its alliance partner’s plant in Chennai.

The Smart For-us is one of the best affordable small cars across the world and if you want a small car for navigating through the city traffic with a seating of two, the Smart For-us is a good option. However one must be willing to compromise on cargo space, standard interior features as well as performance. With a lively and robust design the new Smart For-us, makes a more powerful statement when compared to its previous model, the Smart Fortwo. The car measures 3547 mm in length, 1506 mm in width and 1701mm in height, and with these dimensions the vehicle could almost go unnoticed anywhere.

The interior of this Mercedes Smart car is also pretty decent with comfort and design combined to create an inviting interior with an unexpected feeling of spaciousness. The instrument panel gets a new styling with fabric covering and numerous reworked details to convey a harmonious, high quality overall impression and a new sense of lightness inside. Also the car gets a 16.5 cm touch screen, navigation, Bluetooth hands-free calls, iPod interface and CD/ DVD player.

The Smart Fortwo has a 3 cylinder inline engine with a total displacement volume of 999cc. Net power produced by the engine is 70 hp @ 5800 rpm, whereas a net torque of 68 lb-ft is produced at 4500 rpm. The car can reach a top speed of 145 km/hr and can accelerate from 0-100km/hr in 13.7 seconds. Also the Smart for-us gets a 55 kW magneto-electric motor with zero emission which makes the vehicle agile and lively to drive.

The Smart cars to be introduced in India could be priced between Rs 12-15 lakhs and could target the A2 segment cars for competition like the Maruti Swift, Ford Figo and Volkswagen Polo.

Renault, the French auto-manufacturer has finally launched the much awaited Duster SUV in India with lots of pomp & show. Having made the first global appearance in the year 2009, the SUV became available in the European market from March 2010. Renault Duster as the name suggests is an aggressive and powerful looking SUV, with which the French auto maker is looking to change its fate in India. This SUV will be the fourth vehicle from Renault India after Fluence, Koleos and Pulse.

Exterior

The Renault Duster has a perfect off roader look and is designed to confront any types of roads and tracks. The vehicle gets Logan Platform and falls under D segment of cars. Coming to the front part of this SUV, it gets a three slat grille with a big Renault Logo embossed in the center. Also on either side of this grille there’s a double optic headlamps. The bonnet is all flat with no curves, though some characteristic lines are visible. The side profile of Duster is also interesting with sharply cut beltline. Finally the rear end of the SUV is characterized by a curved boot lid, vertically placed tail lamps, skid plate and a hexagonal shape windshield with rear viper.

Interiors

The interior of the Renault Duster definitely doesn’t have that that luxury touch but it does give the vehicle a sporty look. Most of the interior concept in this SUV is from Logan. Focusing on the Dashboard first, the car has a 3 spoke steering wheel with the Renault logo at the center. The instrument panel is given large dials and is illuminated in red to suit the SUV. With only 5 passengers seating capacity, the SUV gets 475 litres of boot space which can further be increased to 1636 litre by folding down the back seats. Some of the other features included inside are music system integrated in the central console, Bluetooth and aux input functions, electrically programmable front seats and power windows.

Engine

The Renault Duster comes with two engine options, the first one being powered by a 1.5 Litre DCI same as that of Nissan Micra and the second one being 1.6 litre petrol engine. The 1.5 L diesel engine is tuned so as to produce two different power outputs, ie 83.8 bhp and 108.5 bhp. The diesel engine producing 83.8 bhp can reach a maximum torque of 200Nm while the other diesel engine produces 248Nm of maximum torque. The Duster is also offered with either two or four wheel drive system.

Price and Competition

The petrol variant of Renault Duster will be priced between Rs 700,000 to Rs 850,000. The Diesel variant will however be priced between Rs 750,000 to Rs 1,150,000. Some of the vehicles in competition with the Duster will be Force One, Tata Safari, Mahindra Scorpio and XUV 500.

The Mitsubishi Outlander has been the company’s best-selling vehicle from the past three years and has also scored impressive results that include the “Top Safety Pick” given to the 2012 model of Outlander by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Now that the year 2012 is underway, the company is gearing for the all-new 2013 models, the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander being one of them. This new model is expected to have impressive technology upgrade with multiple accident-preventive alerts, as well as design and equipment improvements.

The 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander is more of a facelift version of the previous model. The latest model gets a new front fascia having trapezoidal grille opening and recessed fog lamps which features a new, simpler and cleaner shape. Other new features on the exterior includes chrome surround around the fog lamps, black lower side sills as well new rear fascia with LED tail-lamps.
Engine

The 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander does not get any changes under the hood, which means it will be powered by the same 2.0 liter inline-four engine as its previous model. This engine produces a total of 148 HP and a peak torque of 145 lbs-ft. It is mated to an Enhanced Continuously-Variable Transmission (CVT) which serves the purpose for improved acceleration and smoother shift change.

Price & Competition

The 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander is believed to go on sales towards the end of this year. However the price of this vehicle is still not declared. Some of the vehicles competing against the new Outlander can be Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage, Ford Escape, and Hyundai Tucson.

The Jaguar XKX concept is a combined effort from the Bahrain based Skyrill design studio and the Albanian designer Marin Myftiu to create a next generation electric vehicle that will be based on the Jaguar E-type roadster models of 1960’s. This concept is aimed to push both performance as well as power efficiency of EV’s to the next level, while at the same time tries to restore the glorious design lines of the Jaguar brand.

Visually the side profile of the Jaguar XKX is inspired by the renowned leaping jaguar logo, while up front the headlamps are designed to give the vehicle a look of an aggressive cat ready to pounce. Other notable feature on the exterior of XKX included the very new kind of side mirrors which disappears into the body as soon as the car stops and unfolds as the car turns on.

The XKX Concept being an Electric Vehicle requires only smaller dimension engine and has flexibility for battery placement. This meant that designers could concentrate more on improved aerodynamics, and they did so by widening the side deflectors on the front intake so that more air could flow behind the front wheels which sliding along the doors and the shortcut through the rear wheels could come out from the huge rear openings. This resulted in a reduction to the total flow path and subsequently reduced the drag making the car 60 % more power efficient.

Yet another innovative development in the car includes a layer piezoelectric cells which covers the entire body of Jaguar XKX. These cells when stimulated by the airflow over the vehicle during its movement could produce electricity that can recharge the car’s battery. The concept is similar to a dynamo, faster the vehicle goes more the electricity generated.

Despite of all the technological marvels that we see in the car, it is very unlikely that the car will make it to real production in near future. And even if it does then surely the cost of this Jaguar XKX Concept can be seriously heavy on your pockets.

Honda Motorcycles in India is always known for surprises in one way or the other. This time it was in the form of a brand new fuel-injected version of CBR 150R which being released in the Thai market last year came to India at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi. Even though the design of the CBR 150 is similar to the Honda CBR 250R, the 150 is an entirely different animal in every possible manner.

At first glance, the Honda CBR150R looks very similar to its larger sibling, the 250, but closer inspection will reveal subtler details that really sets this machine apart. While the 250R with its silver trim bits, the bulbous panels and massive exhaust has a striking similarity to the VFR1200F, the CBR 150R with its short exhaust and restrained proportions has the distinct appeal of the CBR600F, which is Honda’s latest middle-weight ‘for-the-street’ sports bike. Overall, with a lighter and more athletic outlook the smaller sibling looks even sportier than the elder one.

Chassis

Remove the skin and you will find that the 150R is very much different from other Honda motorcycles available in India today. Where the 250 has a tubular diamond type frame, the 150’s skeleton sports a proper twin-spar set-up much on the lines of the Yamaha R15. The CBR 150R really stands out with one of the best riding postures amongst any of the bikes we currently have in India, or at least amongst the ‘Indian sportbikes’. The seat is wide and comfy, the position of the footpegs is rear-set but not too extreme, the drooping handlebars are not too outstretched nor are they too low, and the recessed tank has a near perfect shape & width to lock one’s knees on either side. Even though you’re sitting in a slight race crouch, there is almost no pressure on your back or your wrists. Combined with the brilliant handling dynamics, the CBR150 should be fun to ride everywhere.

Engine

The 150cc engine underneath all the body work in this bike is not the same air-cooled type as in other Honda bikes or even Hero MotoCorp in India. Instead we find a brand new liquid-cooled 149.4cc engine with a 4-valve head that features a 63.5mm wide piston with 47.2mm stroke configuration. The bike also gets Honda’s Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system which handles the fuel delivery. The maximum power produced is 17.82 PS at a high rpm value of 10,500, whereas the torque produced is mere 12.66 Nm which is developed at 8500 rpm.

Price & Colours

The Honda CBR 150 standard will be available at Rs 116,385, whereas the CBR 150R deluxe will cost Rs 117,385. Coming to the shades part, the standard variant will be available in Black with Pearl Sunbeam White and Sports Red with Pearl Sunbeam White colours, wheras the 150R Deluxe will be available in Black with Candy Palm Green and Vibrant Orange with Pearl Sunbeam White colour
