At the front, there’s a new front grille design with horizontal bars of varying thickness, underscoring the progressively smooth power and fine balance on offer with this vehicle. There are also hybrid blue rear lamp cluster-modified to incorporate larger, transparent outer lenses – as well as 18-inch aluminium wheels as standard on GS 450h SE-L.
Under normal conditions, only the electric motor is used when the vehicle starts, moves off and travels at low speeds. This means it is incredibly quiet and also produces zero emissions in, for example stop-start traffic. The V6 engine starts automatically when the GS 450h accelerates, seamlessly adding its power to that of the electric motor, while also driving the generator to ensure a constant supply of electricity. The petrol engine is the main source as one reaches normal driving and cruising speeds, but the electric motor will add precisely controlled power for extra acceleration when needed.
The lexus GS 450h offers everything a discerning motorist could want from a modern luxury car. But it also offers something genuinely unique- an incomparable driving experience. The vehicle combines a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine with a high-output electric motor and an advanced compact battery, Lexus Hybrid Drive Provides the GS 450h with a maximum output of 340hp. the result is power with the potential to achieve 0-62mph in under 6 seconds.
The Pre-Crash Safety system in the car has been revised to support the pre-crash seatbelt and brake assist functions with pre-crash brake technology. Both the front seats are fitted with new, inflator-operated active headrests, activated by a signal from the ECU in the event of a rear-end impact. The inflator slides a piston into the headrest, unlocks the mechanism and projects the headrest forwards and upwards to support the occupant’s head and reduce the risk of whiplash injury.
