2012 Toyota Fortuner

The new 2012 Toyota Fortuner is an impressive power machine with muscular body and its sporty looks can take anyone’s fancy. Toyota India after achieving much success from its other models like Toyota Etios, Innova, Corolla & the previous model of Fortuner itself, is all set to boost its profit this year with the all new 2012 Toyota Fortuner. In the year 2009 when Toyota first launched the Fortuner it was with only one diesel variant. The new model however will be available in three variants. The first noticeable change one will notice in the vehicle is the new front end, giving it a new face that looks fresh because of sleeker looking headlamps with projector lights.

Exterior

The 2012 Toyota Fortuner gets Toyota’s signature grille, logo and other family design elements which gives the vehicle more or less a similar face to the other Toyota cars so that it can be recognized as Toyota’s vehicle from a distance. The Fortuner is a 7 seater SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) model measuring 4,695mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, 1,850 mm in height and the wheelbase is 2,750mm. The ground clearance is 221 mm and the kerb weight of this SUV is 1955 kg. On the front the car has a wide grille with lot of chrome on it. Moving upwards, the bonnet is marked by acute character lines and a wide air-scoop for cooling the intercooler. Sideways the 17” alloy (aluminium) wheels catch the attention first. On the rear the bumpers are different from outgoing model with reflectors placed low.

Interior

The interiors of the Toyota Fortuner are very attractive with dual tone beige dashboard that is packed with the advanced instrument cluster and beige upholstery. It offers stylish, spacious and comfortable passenger room with generous headroom, leg space and excellent front visibility. In the 2012 Toyota Fortuner model, one would find, a fresh centre console that adorns a very sporty touch screen DVD audio system with Bluetooth mobile telephony. Controls of the same are given on the 4 spoke steering. The car also has a reverse camera in which rear view can be seen on the touch screen. Other features includes Automatic Climate Control AC with unique rear AC vents, Cabin lamp with Switch off Timer, Optitron Meter, MID (Multi Information Display), New Audio Head Unit with Bluetooth and Call Functions, Front and Rear Armrest, Gate Type Shift Levers, NVH (Noise, Vibrations and Harshness) Reduction Materials etc.

Engine

The 2012 Toyota Fortuner will be available in India with only the 3.0L diesel engine option. This engine is quite powerful which can produce a maximum power of 168 bhp at 3600 rpm and a torque of 343 Nm at 1400-3400 rpm. The Turbocharger included with the engine gives high engine performance with excellent acceleration and fuel efficiency. This new model of Fortuner will be having an option for both 2 and 4 wheel drive, in comparison to the previous model having only the 4-wheel drive.

Safety

This grand SUV offers a bunch of safety features for both the driver as well as the co-passengers found in some of the best cars. Some of the Active Safety features include Dual Front SRS Airbags, ABS with EBD, 15” Front Disc Brakes. Other Passive safety features include Multi-Reflector Quad Headlamps, LED High Mount Tail Lamps, and Global Outstanding Assessment body that provides the highest level of safe body in its segment.
