Nissan Motors in India have showcased their premium mid size segment car the new Nissan Sunny at an official function held at the Taj Hotel in Bandra Mumbai this Wednesday. The new saloon is scheduled to be launched in a few months time to coincide with the festive seasons coming in India. The Nissan Sunny was first introduced by the company in the year 1966 as the Datsun 1000 and since then it has one of the iconic cars of Nissan.

Nissan Sunny will be made here in India on the same V-platform as the Nissan Micra. Sunny has been designed in such a manner that it meets the needs and tastes of customers both in India as well as abroad. The car is a four door sedan model with a seating capacity of 5. The overall length of Sunny is expected to be 4455mm, with the width and height to be about 1694mm and 1513mm. The wheelbase is about 2601mm and the ground clearance is expected to be about 160mm.

The car is targeted to appeal a wide class of customers including the professionals and families with young mindset. The vehicle’s exterior design represents the sophistication and aerodynamic characteristics of the car. The new signature grille and jewel like headlamps enhance the overall look of the vehicle.

Nissan Sunny comes with a lot of features in the inside. Power steering, CD/MP3 player with four speakers, manual climate control system, ORVM’s, power windows, glove box, keyless entry system, rear parking sensors, push button start/stop system are some of the standard features the new Nissan Sunny will be having. Some of the safety features the car will be having are the SRS dual front airbags, fog lamps in the front, halogen headlamps, ABS with EBD and brake assist, front disc brakes, all seat belts, day and night inside rear view mirror, impact absorbing body, etc.

Nissan Sunny is expected to be having a 1.5 liter engine for its both petrol and the diesel variants, producing 107.5bhp of power. The engine is four cylindered with 16 valves. Also the engine will be assembled to a 5 speed manual gearbox. The maximum torque expected is 146 Nm. Since the engine uses the Japanese technology, the Nissan Sunny promises greater power and acceleration figures. The V platform also ensures that the car weights less and gives higher performance.

The Nissan Sunny is expected to cost between 8-10 lakhs in the Indian market.
