Having achieved a record number of sales in India last month, General Motors India is expecting these numbers to rise with the release of new range of vehicles this month. The most gorgeous and talked about being the Chevrolet Sail. Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi the Chevrolet Sail will be launched as both hatchback as well as sedan. The Hatchback version is expected to replace the Aveo UV-A, whereas the Sail Sedan will compete against Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Accent and Tata Indigo Manza.
The front view of the Chevrolet Sail tells a lot about the design and sound fitting of the common components and features Chevrolet’s signature dual-port grille.. These cars have a clean and descent looks with muscular crease on the bonnet that looks good and adds character to the car’s styling. Both these cars do have some resemblance to the previous Chevrolet models like the Cruze for the sedan and Chevrolet Beat for the hatchback. The bumper, ORVMs, door handles and side skirts are painted in the same color as that of the body, while the hood is made neat and clean with classic fit and finish.
Chevrolet knows very well about its customers in India and so have left no stones unturned to provide the best arrangement in the interiors. The dashboard comes with dual tone scheme with the upper part painted in black while the lower part is covered in dim cream color. Glove boxes present in front of both the front seats provide ample storage space in the dashboard. The Chevrolet Sail has a colorful instrument panel resting behind the three-spoke steering wheel comprising of meters with chrome tips that look great in the dark. The multimedia cluster sports chrome finish catches the eye at first glance. Apart from that, the sedan version has dual tone covers which adorn the seats as well as the interiors. As far as the leg, head and shoulder room is concerned, it’s pretty good in both the rows.
Both the Chevrolet Sail hatchback as well as the sedan will be available in two engine trims, the first being a 1.2 litre S-TEC II and the second being a 1.4 Litre S-TEC II petrol engine. As far as power Is concerned the 1.2 liter produces 53.1 KWh using a five speed manual gearbox, and the 1.4 liter produces 54.3 KWh with the same five speed manual transmission. The 1.2 liter engine helps the car to accelerate the car from 0-100km/hr in 12.9 seconds, while the 1.4 liter takes 11.9 seconds for the same. As far as mileage is concerned, the company has designed the body of the Chevrolet Sail with a light weight material to increase the mileage.
We can except to see the Chevrolet Sail hatchback soon, as the company is expected to launch this vehicle by July of this year at a price tag of around Rs 4,00,000.
