2012 Ford Focus

Ford Motors have come up with the all new 2012 Ford Focus, a next generation car which includes both sedan and 5 door hatchback variant. These cars are entirely new, more exciting looking vehicles both inside & out. Ford Focus will be coming in the Indian market next year as part of the company plan to bring 8 new models in India within next 3-4 years. The sedan will be competing against the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Skoda Laura and Chevrolet Cruze.

Exterior

The 2012 Ford Focus is not only impressive on the exterior but also is fun to drive. The new Focus looks sportier and more aggressive than the older models and falls inline with the Honda Fit and Ford Fiesta. The car radiates energy with its athletic Z body lines, which is designed to cheat wind and steal your breath. Even the lights on the Focus offer dramatic styling. Up front, Dragon Eye quad beam halogen headlamps give the car a steely-eyed squint. In the rear, split vertical tail lamps add width for a premium feel.

Interior

Inside the car Ford has brought in updated materials and design language to provide the car with upscale feel and layout. Many of the smart features and technologies such as active park assist, Sync, HD Radio with iTunes tagging, My Ford Touch, torque vectoring control, rear view camera, and push button start have been packed in the 2012 Ford Focus. One unexpected feature with My Ford is in-car Wi-Fi. By plugging in a USB modem into one of the two USB ports, a Wi-Fi hotspot is created in the car which supports upto five devices. The company feels that these features will help buyers move from either larger or typically more equipped and luxurious vehicles into more economical and compact Focus.

Safety

The 2012 Ford Focus is made of ultra high strength boron steel which adds protection to the vehicle while reducing the overall weight. The new material is four times stronger than the normal high strength steel and leads to fuel economy of the vehicle by trimming the weight. In addition to the dual stage driver and front seat passenger airbags, every Focus comes with front seat mounted side airbags as well as front and rear side curtain airbags.

Engine

With a 2.0 liter four cylinder engine and combination of Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) & direct injection, the new Ford Focus has achieved 20 horsepower more than the previous 2.0 liter Duratec engine and also gained 10 percent more fuel economy. The total power of the vehicle now is 160 hp and torque is 146 lb-ft. The engine is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed Power shift automatic transmission. The cars equipped with SFE (Super Fuel Economy) and a six speed automatic transmission gives 40 mpg on the highway and 28 mpg in the city.
