Nissan 370Z

After the success of  350Z coupe Nissan came up with the 370Z in the year 2009 which was more of a sports car and had reduced weight, less size and more power. The change from 350 to 370 included hacking 3.9 inches of wheelbase, 2.7 inches of length, and 0.3 inches of height. This also included replacing numerous steel pieces with parts made from aluminum which is lighter.

Designed as a replacement to the 350Z, nissan 370Z styling is evolutionary. Overall, the NIssan 370Z – which was developed under the code name C53D — keeps the same general shape as the 350Z. The newest Nissan Z receives a “boomerang” headlight treatment similar to that seen on the 2009 Maxima. The rear is also a bit stubbier, with a sharper crease along the trailing edge of the hatch.

Performance

Nissan 370Z uses the same VQ37VHR powerplant found in the Infiniti G37 – a 3.7-liter V6 engine  delivering 332 horsepower and 26 mpg on the highway. This much power will be sent to the 370Z’s rear wheels via either a seven-speed automatic or a six-speed manual gearbox. Of note, the six-speed 370Z will be the first vehicle to offer a synchronized downshift rev matching system with a manual transmission.

As expected, the Nissan 370Z will offer a serious performance upgrade over the model it replaced, the 350Z. The 370Z will ride on a shorter wheelbase than the previous car and uses more lightweight materials. Those changes net a lighter curb weight, meaning all around higher performance  in acceleration, braking and cornering.

Exterior

With a cantilevered roof, “barbed” head- and taillamps, and a 240Z-like upswept beltline, the Nissan 370Z wears a tighter, more retro shape than the 350Z, which is 2.7-inches longer and 0.3-inch taller, taller, and rides on a 3.9-inch longer wheelbase

Interior

The nissan 370Z driver-oriented cabin sports big gauges, a race-style oval steering wheel, a convenient glovebox, and a useable cargo area. For a grander environment, the upscale Touring adds leather, Bluetooth phone, Bose audio, and aluminum pedals.

The 2011 Nissan 370Z is available as a coupe or a roadster and in three available trims: base, Touring and Nismo and the cost is expected to be around $38860 USD.
