Great news for “Swift” fans. The cash cow of Maruti Suzuki i.e Swift is all set to get an upgrade in the starting of the year 2011. The newly-improved Suzuki Swift 2011 is supposed to have undergone an evolutionary change in design and performance. The second generation Swift features a longer bonnet line, larger head lamps and tail lamps, and a more prominent waist which bears a resemblance with Renault hatches in Europe.
The new Maruti Swift comes with the K-series engine that has proven to give good performance and is one of the most fuel efficient engines. It has completely refurbished interiors with better quality plastics and re-designed dashboard. The front has a retractable screen, automatic climate control, Bluetooth and a USB support. It also features steering mounted controls and complete digital console. Built for high speed stability, the wheelbase has become 50 mm longer for Indian models and a significant increase by 5 and 10 mm for the front and rear tracks respectively for European models.
European models offer two fuel efficient engines, the new 1.2 liter VVT (variable Valve technology) petrol and the 1.3-liter DDiS Fiat Multijet diesel engine. With higher strength steel stiffer, lighter body, Suzuki Swift 2011 second-generation will take the roads by aerodynamics and efficiency. These engines consumes just 4.16-litres per 100km on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 116g/km which is a 17 per cent improvement over the old 1.3-litre unit. A new Dzire, based on this second generation Swift is expected to be released by late 2012 for model cycles consideration.
